What are the three causes of sentence unity error.

Violations of unity in sentence construction fall into three categories.

i.                    Unrelated ideas

ii.                  Excessive detail

iii.                Illogical construction

Unrelated Ideas: Placing unrelated ideas in a sentence is the most obious violation of unity. We can avoid unrelated ideas error by

i.                    Putting unrelated ideas in separate sentences.

ii.                  We can make one of the ideas subordinate to the other.

iii.                Adding words that show relationship.

Example:

Mr. Jordan is our sales managers and he has a degree in law. A better arrangement is to put each in a separate sentence. Mr. Jordan is our sales manager. He has a degree in law.

Excessive detail: Excessive detail is another cause of back of unity. If the detail is important put it in a separate sentence. This means using short sentence. Short sentence is communicate better than, long sentence.

Example:

Excessive Detail	Improved
The decision was predicted on the assumption that on abundance of monetary fund was forth coming.	The decision was based on the be life that there would be more money.

Illogical Construction: Illogical construction destroy sentence unity. These constructions result primarily from illogical thinking. Illogical thinking is too complex for meaningful study. Active and passive voice in the same sentence can violate unity.

Example:

Illogical Construction	Improved
I never knew an executive who was interested in helping workers who had got into problems that caused them to worry.	I never knew an executive who was interested in helping worried workers with their problems.
My education was completed in 2004 and then began work as a manager for home department.	I completed my education 2004 and then began work as a manager for home department.
